Melbourne (March 2012) - Day 7 (Last entry)
Did not have any sightseeing plans for the last day in Melbourne so it was all FOOD, shopping and relaxing. Hence, did not bring my camera along and so, all photos were taken using my good old Samsung Corby (have not bought my current phone in March yet).
As usual, information about restaurants/cafes will be at the bottom of the post.
The weather was lovely that day so we made our journey to North Melbourne and had our brunch at Seven Seeds without much hassle. You can't locate this place with your eyes cause like any other awesome coffee places in Melbourne, they don't have any sign outside their cafes. No worries, your nose will be able to lead you cause that's what happened to me.
Smelled really good coffee upon getting off the tram! Followed it and we arrived at the doorstep of Seven Seeds without even referring to the GPS!
The place was packed but we were lucky to score a seat for two upon entering!
A very blur picture of the menu :(
Freshly baked stuff on the counter top!
Leng zai baristas kekek...
Our view of the little garden in the middle of the cafe/restaurant.
My flat white~
One of the best in Melbourne!!!
Karen's favourite, soy latte.
Brioche french toast with spiced baked pears, mascarpone and toasted pecans.
AUD 13.50
Oh goshhhh, SO YUMMY!!
Did not take a picture of the name of this from the menu but yeah, it's fresh mushrooms, pine nuts and cheese over toasted bread.
Really, if we have fresh mushrooms like this, I'd eat this everyday! Mushrooms are my fav!
After having my last brunch in Melbourne, we went to
Queen Victoria Market that's nearby. One has not gone to Melbourne if one has not visited QVM. Here are some of the photos from there. If I were to go there again in the future, I shall go with an empty stomach! LOOK AT ALL THOSE GERMAN SAUSAGES AND FOOD!!
Sigh~ I shall return one day!
Fresh, colourful and beautiful flowers for sale.
We got stuck in this store for quite a long time!
How can a girl not love these vintage babies? Both of us bought one of these though it did a little damage to our wallets!
I love this bunny! Wait, I love all bunnies! haha
Hear hear~ See see~
It was almost Easter then.
Since we had nothing much to do so we went back to the city and did some sightseeing shopping.
Saw Our Symphonic Life performing on the street again! Was it Bourke street?
Did some last minute shopping and had more coffee at another random cafe in the city. Our legs brought us to Cafe No. 5.
Shared a muffin and it's so good.
Why are all the food in Melbourne so good? How did they do it?
T_____T
The interior of the small cafe with a super handsome barista!
No kidding!
Who said we could only have our caffeine fix once a day?
When you're in Melbourne, 2 is the minimum or else you're gonna feel so sorry for those awesome coffee.
When all stores are closed, nothing beats hanging out at the park, enjoying the good weather over some catching up with a friend.
And some birds too hehe.
Nice weather, some shade, cool wind and good friend~
Life's awesome.
Most of the people were in the trams on their way home or to other destinations.
Right, we sat there cause we didn't want to be squeezed in the trams haha
It's a waste to just go home and pack my luggage so we loitered around the city for a while more and guess what we chanced upon?
An underground Korean restaurant!!!!
Yeap, it's dinner time! HAHA
Joo ♥ Mak
Another blur photo of the menu~
Sorry~
We had plum wine with gold flakes.
Mmmm... Love it!
Kimchi chigae, bulgogi, rice and banchan.
Grilled mackerel that's on the house!!
I'm not a big fan of fish but Karen loves it!
And it's AUD 20 for that fish! No kidding!
Note to self: must bring Karen along to that place again cause she's my lucky star
HUGE EGG ROLL!! OMGGGG MY FAVOURITE!!!!
With fish roe in the centre!!!
T__________T
My Melbourne foodie trip's complete!
Dear local chefs, please include this in your menu and I assure you, you'll be seeing me quite often!
Eggs, fish roe, mayo and tomato sauce? PERFECT COMBINATION!
Kimchi pancake.
Not my thing but Karen loves it.
And we ended the night with... froyo (frozen yoghurt for short)!
Cacao Green
Was starting to get cold but that did not stop us and everyone else from getting froyos!
We shared this!
Limonette and green tea froyo with almonds, mochi and fresh blueberries for topping!
Top view!
In summary, it was a wonderful day.
I had seven wonderful days in Melbourne thanks to
Karen and her lovely housemate!
MUAH MUAH MUAHSSSS!
TOTEMO ARIGATOU GOZAIMASU!
We planned to go back to Cafe No. 5 the following morning (the day that I was leaving) but I left my tab at Karen's house and we had to go back to take it. There wasn't enough time to go to the airport if we stopped for brunch there so, goodbye lovely brunch of Melbourne.
:(
So sad but all those wonderful days before the day I went home made up for it. All the times exploring Melbourne and savouring its fine food and coffee with my awesome friend made the trip perfect. Couldn't ask for more except to double check everything before leaving for the airport from then onward.
