Melbourne ♥ (March 2012) - Day 3 (Sand Sculpting 'Toytopia', Frankston Waterfront & Hoa Tran)
Hey guys! I hope everyone's doing good today!
I am finally at the last part of our road trip! Eyes almost went berserk selecting, resizing and uploading the photos! 55 of them!
O.O
Anyway, for earlier entries if case you missed any,
Day 3, Part 1 - Mornington Peninsula - Beach Huts

Melbourne (March 2012) - Day 3, Part 4
With the help of the gps on the iphone, we arrived at our final destination, Frankston Waterfront!
We're there to see some sand sculpting! The theme for this year's Toytopia! I was pretty excited cause I was curious how they'd look like. My previous sculpting experience was ice sculpting in Macau last year.
We bought our entrance tickets at the Frankston Visitor Information Centre nearby. It was AUD 10 for each of us.
If you see this big banner, you're at the right place.
Before I start to post photos of sand sculptures, here's a photo of our small but powerful rented car!
*big hug*
Thanks to it, we had awesome rides throughout the weekend!
There's too many photos for me to talk about so I'll let them do the talking instead.
Are you ready to be transported between the past and present?
:P
A mini carousel for the kids to ride~
A small area with mini diggers for the kids to play with.
Paddington bear!
You know you have awesome childhood if you watched cartoons from WB!
Kids back in the 90's *ahem* went gaga over Barbies!
TROLLLLLLLL! LOL
Beast's YoSeob!
Kidding :P
Babushka dolls!
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the King's horses and all the King's men.
Couldn't put Humpty together again.
Come on, you guys know this, don't you? It's one of the first few things we learnt in English classes!
My castle~
Top!! Where's my GD baby? :P
Land of make believe carved by Alexy Dyakov.
One of my favourites!
Your dream might come true so don't stop dreaming~
I was glad that the photos came out alright cause it was so hard to snap them under the glazing sun. I was using the Panasonic Lumix GX1 so there's no viewer. Many times I had to just point randomly and shoot. LOL
If you're going to a sculpting 'event' like this in the future, do walk around at least twice cause there'll be things that you didn't see on your first walk.
Art comes in many forms and I'm glad that we went there to further my tiny knowledge in Art.
After the sand sculpture sighting, it was still early and the sun was still so bright. We decided to walk to the waterfront to have some relaxing time.
A long jetty in sight!
Seagulls!
The sea! OMGGG! So beautiful!
The bridge at the waterfront. Must be the landmark there or something~
Okay, I am so going to get on that jetty! I see flags!
Cute lil kid running around barefoot with his mom chasing with the buggy few metres behind.
And then the camera's battery went flat!
T^T
So from here onward, all photos were taken using my mobile phone only.
Kids having fun!
Look at how the kid's laying down on his dad's tummy!
Cute!!
People jogging, looking for seashells....
How the bridge looked like from afar.
Getting on the jetty!
The sun's still blazing hot but the temperature of the wind had dropped and it was cool.
:)
Water's so clear!
I am definitely coming back here one day!
So many families strolling along the bridge!
Can you see the flags? Too bad we couldn't find our country's flag.
I wonder if there's a meaning or reason for the flags to be up there.
It was really soothing feeling the sun and wind in our face and seeing some people taking a dip in the blue water. If only I know how to swim! Haha
Time passed quietly without us knowing. As the sun's getting ready to set, we went back to our car and headed to Springvale for (early)dinner.

Vietnamese & Chinese food for dinner!
Hoa Tran!
There's so much to be ordered on the menu and we were really having a hard time selecting what to eat! In the end we decided to order noodles and rice to be shared.
This place felt so familiar. Haha Of course! We're surrounded by Asians and here, we hear people speaking in English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese and more! Cool!
White coffee, AUD 3.50.
Wow, the taste's different from the coffees that I've had all my life. Not your 3 in 1 or freshly brewed coffee.
You'll have to try it to get what I mean.
Fresh sliced beef noodle soup, AUD 9.
OMGGGG it's sooooo good! Soup's warm and tasted just right. Not too sweet or salty! The fresh sliced beef was medium well in the soup and the vermicelli was so smooth that you have to eat carefully to prevent choking!
*in heaven*
Vietnamese cuisine, a cuisine that is really rare here. I'd like to have a bowl of pho now! Somebody please open a restaurant here? T.T
Pork with rice.
I'm sorry. It's too yummy that I can't recall the name of this dish.
:(
Anybody know the name of this dish?
It's not a Vietnamese cuisine without these!
Rice paper rolls! AUD 8.50.
*nom nom*
Soooooo gooooood!
Although the neighbourhood's not your typical one, the yummy food from Hoa Tran's worth it!
Click
here for their website! You can get all the information there! Menu, location(with map and description!!) etc

Go go go! Melbournians, make a trip there for some yummy Asian food!
After a filling and satisfying meal, we headed back home. The sun was setting on our way home so with only the mobile phone, I tried taking photos of the beautiful sunset.
Chasing the sunset~
We failed to chase it and it was dark when we finally arrived at K-mart.
:(
Had mango pudding at Gold Leaf Chinese Restaurant for dessert.
Not bad but still, the one from HK's clouding my judgement! LOL
After a long day trip ( a few blog posts too! hehe), we finally retreated back to Karen's place and call it a day.
Karen, thanks for the awesome road trip!
*BIG HUG*
It was an adventure on the road that I don't think I can forget. *cough* You know what I mean ;)
Wow! Such a looooong post! Need to get ready for some girly times with the girls!
Until the next post, have a nice evening!
^^
