Melbourne ♥ (March 2012) - Day 4 (Three Bags Full Cafe, South Wharf & Donwoori Korean Restaurant)
It's Sunday again! Sorry for the lack of posts. It's always extra busy at work whenever we come back from vacation, no? On top of that, I am still sick. Urgh it's a long story but anyways, here's the continuation of my Melbourne trip! Since it's from a few months ago, I'll try my best to blog as accurate as possible from my fuzzy memories which are now clouded with my recent trip.

Melbourne (March 2012) - Day 4
We had to return the rented car on that day so we headed to
Three Bags Full for brunch before that.
We were lucky to get a parking space just across the road from there so without further dilly dallying, we walked into the cafe. Just like Chez Dre that we went to previously, Three Bags Full was packed with patrons enjoying their meal. All the tables had been taken, even those outside! It was a Monday! Not even on the weekend. But we were lucky again cause two ladies were about to leave and so we were sat at a table for two near the door.
Packed on the left.
Packed on the right too. Couldn't even see the counters! LOL
Yeap, that's how close we were to the door.
They were renovating the place next door(could feel the wall beside us vibrating all the time) so most of the time, we sort of had to shout to hear each other. LOL
Good news! The renovation's been completed so now there'll be more space for dining! Yay!

While waiting for our coffees and food, we had this freshly baked muffin.
I think it's cranberry, banana and oat muffin? I'm sorry I can't remember T_T
But I can assure you, it's not too sweet and really yummy!
Karen's soy latte.
My flat white.
I have to say their coffee's really good!
Big Breakfast, Aud 18.50.
Eggs, bacons, tomatoes, spinach, cheese kransky, relish & toast.
As seen in the name, price and photo, that is a HUGE breakfast for one! I'm glad that I had it shared with Karen.
:)
I really love the mushrooms! Okay, fine, everything on the plate! XD
See that gooey yolk goodness on the warm toasted brown bread? YUMS!
Roasted pumpkin with sage fritters, Aud 16.
With grilled haloumi(the yummy goat cheese on top!), parsley, pine nut, parmesan and pomegranate salad.
I'd have to say it's a very unique dish. I've never tasted anything like that and I don't think I can ever find a dish like that in Brunei! Pumpkin, cheese and pomegranate? No worries, it's delicious!
Since we finished our coffees already and I was told that their juice's really fresh and nice, we had this to wrap up our meal.
I can't remember what went in the juice but all I could remember is that the juice's a really refreshing drink.

After our hearty brunch, we returned our rented car and headed back to CBD. While Karen went to get tickets for some show, I hang out around St Paul's Cathedral and did some people watching.
Flinders street station before the city got busy.
Federation Square? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I was amazed by the beauty of the door of St Paul's Cathedral.
Me being the nosy and touristy me, had a look inside.
So pretty!
Then, I went out again cause I didn't want to intrude other's quiet time in there.
So I waited for Karen outside again. I enjoyed looking at people going to work, tourists getting on buses, clouds moving in the sky, well, just looking at how things go on in Melbourne, even for 10 minutes. I should say it's very different from Brunei. Interesting~
One thing I like about travelling to another country is, people watching. Not really staring at people but something like, you know, observing what people in another country do? Like how fast they walk? How they dress? What kind of people? It's interesting to see the differences and also the similarities. Also, no one knows who I am anyways. Hehe
After Karen got her tickets, we headed to South Wharf via the tram.
The bridge at South Wharf.
The ship at South Wharf.
We did a little shopping at the outlet there and OMG I love that place! It's not crowded, probably cause it's a Monday and there're so many brands that I like! Adidas,
Fossil, Converse etc
We spent quite a long time in Fossil! I had my eyes on athe watch and a few bags! But when I was about to pay, I realised I forgot to bring my card! And I didn't have enough cash for that much stuff!
T_________T
How in the world could that happen??
But thank goodness, the girl's so sweet that she promised to keep my things for me so I could go back there to collect the next day.
After a few hours of shopping at the outlet, we walked around South Wharf since the weather's quite nice. It's beautiful there. It's a pity I did not bring the camera out with me that day, and hence, really low quality photos taken with my mobile phone.
We then went to
Queen Victoria Market cause I've never been there yet and we had nowhere else to go apart from going home.
Why do the shops and malls in Melbourne close so early?
T_T
It was past 6pm by the time we reached there so the market's already closed. We walked around the area there and decided to have our dinner at this Korean restaurant that I'd read online. I was craving for Korean BBQ before I went to Melbourne!
And so to
Donwoori we went! It's just across the road from Queen Victoria Market.
You can smell meat grilling once you open the door. Mmmmmm... that's already a good sign! And when you see a place packed with Asians and non Asians, you know you've arrived at a lovely place.
All the tables were taken so we were seated at the wooden counter which we didn't mind. Hehe... having cute staff(ahem korean cuties) right in front of you will always be a bonus, no? :P
We overheard their conversation with the 3 men who were sharing the counter with us that they're undergraduates doing part time jobs there.
Anyway, we ordered from the a la carte instead of their set menu since we wanted to have both the beef and the pork and other dishes.
Our seafood pancake.
It's not bad but really, if you've tried the one from the
ahjumma at Ko-ryo, you will be her devoted seafood pancake fan/customer!
Even after two trips to Korea and other visits to other Korean restaurants in Asia, I've not found any seafood pancake that can beat hers.
Ahjumma, please don't retire so soon ok?
Saranghae ♥ ~
Kimchi soup filled with soft and silky tofu and clams.
Not bad for but I feel that something's missing. I really wanted to have kimchi stew(kimchi chigae) but the staff told me they didn't have it? and we had to go next door for that?
O.o
So does that mean the Korean restaurant next door's affiliated with them too? Oh wells....
Then the highlight of our meal... jeng jeng jeng jeng......
Grilled beef!
YUMS!
It's even yummier when it's cooked by cute staff! HAHA
I think we were
看牙不看眼 through out the whole meal there.
Of course a Korean BBQ meal will never be complete without some
three layer pork belly! Better known as
sam gyup sal.
Personally, the pork's the best!
See those meat?
:D
I'd totally recommend this place for their 3 layer pork belly! Look at how fresh and thick the meat is!! Not frozen meat at all!
Being cooked by cute korean guy also made it taste better :P
It's so sweet and juicy that it made me think about it for days or even weeks after coming back to Brunei.
Blogging about this place makes me wanna go back there right now! If only Melbourne's not 7 hours away! LOL
We were so happy and satisfied with our meal that I don't even remember how much we spent on our meal!

On our way back to catch the tram, we stopped by an Asian mart to get some snacks.
Green tea ice cream! Soooooooo good!
I always believe that ice creams taste the best when they are shared!
And yes, we shared the ice cream and giggled all the way to the tram. Thank goodness we didn't have any
soju or we'd be seen as lunatics!
In summary, it was a GREAT day! Awesome brunch, shopping, walking/sightseeing, yummy dinner (with eye candies) and yummy dessert with a close friend... perfect holiday!
Before I end this post, I'd like to thank
Karen again for her great hospitality!
MUAH MUAH MUAHSSS!!
And thank YOU for reading this.
:)
Until the next post, have a great week ahead!
