Melbourne (March 2012) - Day 3, Part 2
We finally arrived at Sunny Ridge Strawberry Farm a little past 1pm after an exciting drive from the beach huts earlier. This is one of the places that I really wanted to go prior to my trip and also a place that I will definitely go back again and again when I return to Melbourne in the future! I'll let the strawberry photos do the talking~
Ready for strawberries filled photos?
The entrance.
Beyond the doors, there's a dessert cafe and a mini shop selling products made from strawberries. It was quite packed and a lil difficult to look at the products and there were no empty table available at the dessert cafe so we opted for STRAWBERRY PICKING! Luckily March's still the strawberry picking season! This was my FIRST time picking strawberries! Excited much! XD
We each paid AUD 8 for the entrance fee and we're given an empty punnet each!
Our empty punnets.
Some rules and regulations.
Something that strawberry pickers have to keep in mind.
Notice in Chinese too.
The rows of strawberries here were not opened for picking so we had to head further down to those at the back.
But that didn't stop me from snapping some photos.
Guess the strawberries were still too small for picking~
We're only allowed to pick strawberries between the red flags.
A cute toddler having his time~
"What?" :P
Awww... so cute!
Not much strawberries left here.
White/pale pink strawberry~
A fully ripe one!
And more~
Other visitors picking strawberries~
While we were picking strawberries, Karen and I decided to take each other's photos and the guy in grey in the photo above kept on photo bombing us somehow. Many times he bent too low sticking his butt high up making us giggled like mad hatters. We couldn't take any decent photo! Sigh... we had to move a bit further down to take a nice photo with no butts :P
Anyway, thanks for cheering us up on that cloudy and gloomy day.
We filled our punnets in less than 30 minutes!
Miss them big and juicy strawberries!
With our strawberries in hands, we headed back indoors. There were still no empty table at the dessert cafe! So we walked around and had a look at the products that they were selling.
Strawberry jams and syrups.
Chocolate coated freeze dried strawberries!
OMGGGG these are my favourite! Totally like those coated with milk chocolate~
Ahhh......
I only bought a packet of dark chocolate coated and a milk chocolate coated. But I regretted so much when I tasted it after I left Melbourne. WHY DID I ONLY BUY 1 PACKET? T___T
Thank goodness the lovely
Karen bought 2 more packets for me when she brought her mom there a few weeks after our visit! *fly kiss*
Ice creams and sorbets.
Fruits vinegar.
Fruit ciders!
We tasted a few of them and they're quite nice!
Cute strawberry teapot's being sold along with other strawberry stuff too! Hats, pencil case, plastic containers etc
Big and ripe strawberries that were to be made into jam.
We finally spotted an empty table at the desert cafe so we went to park our butts before it's being taken away.
The dessert cafe counter.
Real thing being displayed!
The menu~

While waiting for our food to arrive, photo snapping time!
Another one~
Fresh strawberry coated with Belgian chocolate.
I saw other people having this and Karen went to get one for me without telling me!
T^T
Sweet friend or not?
*hugs*
Strawberry Temptation.
AUD 12.50
A parfait glass spilling with strawberries and Sunny Ridge's winning Strawberry ice cream and sorbet, topped with lashings of whipped cream and Sunny Ridge's raspberry syrup.
OMGGGGG!
That's the best dessert ever! Now I can't decide if this is my most favourite dessert or this
matcha pattbingsu from Coin Cafe. I couldn't decide if the Strawberry ice cream or the sorbet was nicer too! LOL the fresh strawberries and whipped cream just made the whole thing taste nicer!
Argghhh... worst thing is, they are both unreachable at the moment cause I don't live in Seoul or Melbourne!
:(
Devonshire Tea.
AUD 10.00
Two freshly baked scones served with our famous strawberry jam and a helping of double thick cream. Accompanied by your choice of tea or coffee.
OMG!! You know what, I've only eaten a few scones til today but those scones are the best! Really! It was so warm and softer than other scones that I've eaten! The strawberry jam had a lot of texture but it's a bit too sweet to my liking but the cream balanced it out!
After having our awesome afternoon tea/lunch/snack, we left Sunny Ridge Farm for more sightseeing along the coast.
Estimated time spent at Sunny Ridge Farm : 65 minutes
Info on Sunny Ridge Farm:
Phone number - +61 3 5989 4500
Sunny Ridge Farm opens daily from November to April, 9am ~ 5pm. That's also the strawberry picking season.
From May to October, it's only open on weekends, 11am ~ 4pm.
It is also closed on Christmas Day, New Years Day and Good Friday.
We really enjoyed our time there picking strawberries, taking photos, chit chatting and savouring their awesome desserts! I want to go back there again~ It's a great place to go to, especially for families with kids. I saw a few parents guiding their kids in strawberry picking and explaining which ones to pick and which ones not.
Do check out their Facebook page for lots of photos!
This is not the end for Day 3 so do look out for the continuation!
Have a lovely long weekend guys! Selamat Berpuasa (fasting) to all Muslim out there.
