Melbourne (March 2012) - Day 3, Part 3

After we left Sunny Ridge Strawberry Farm, we stopped by at Arthurs Seat for some views. Be prepared for lots of greens and blues! It's gonna be so good for your eyes and you'll feel calm. I hope! :P

Tried my best to capture the view on the left but I guess I am not tall enough to exclude other visitors who were enjoying the beautiful view~

After taking some photos, we continued to go downhill. The heat was unbearable so we didn't go to the park.

So, on the way downhill, we stopped by at Murrays Lookout.

When we got off the hill, we were a little lost with the way back so Karen stopped the car at this waterfront to check on her phone and gps. I'm sorry for being a bad navigator :S 

I can't recall the name of this place so I'm just gonna call it the waterfront. It's about 10 to 15 minutes from Murrays Lookout.

Being the touristy me, I brought the camera out to snap some photos of some breathtaking views.

It was really hot but the beautiful views are worth it!

After some time, we continued our journey to the next destination.

Couldn't concentrate on the phone or gps cos the view outside's just too beautiful! Look at the turquoise of the sea! The blue sky and white clouds! And, look at how CLEAN the roadside is!!

I'd like to stay in one of those houses one day. Or maybe just one of the hotels or guesthouses there~

We finally arrived here(last destination on our itinerary before dinner) at about 4.30pm!

I am taking a hiatus from travelling to BSB for them at the moment cause I need to catch up with work. It's always extra busy before the holidays! But it's ok, whatever that is at the end of it ALWAYS pay off~

Hey guys! It's Friday again! Yay!

To Sungkai Buffet lovers, here is another post on Sungkai Buffet 2012! Second stop for this year, Kimchi Restaurant it is!


I went for the Eat All You Can Ramadhan Buffet with my sister, niece and a friend last night after making a call for reservation a day before. Upon arrival, we were ushered to our table by their friendly and polite staffs.


The way they handle their buffet is slightly different from other restaurants cause you get to choose what you want to eat from the buffet menu instead of getting your food from buffet tables. If it's cooked food, just eat right away when served. If the meat or vegetables that you're ordering is raw, grill to your heart's content! Oh yeah~


Here's the menu.

The banchan (반찬), Korean Side Dishes.

Salted eggs, kimchi, potatoes and bean sprouts.

Cucumbers, white radish, anchovies (ikan bilis) and spinach (not quite sure about this).

Lettuce, gochujang (고추장, Korean hot bean paste) freshly cut onions and garlic to go with your BBQ meat.

We had beef bulgogi, lamb bulgogi, chicken teriyaki and beef teriyaki.

Prawns, scallops, mussels and squids.

And it's grilling time!

We also had enoki mushrooms. YUMS!

Tip: dip the mushrooms in the squids' sauce before grilling ;)

Seafood pancake.

Personal verdict: It's crispy and warm but I still prefer the one from Koryo.

Kimchi stew (Kimchi Chigae, 김치찌개) with beef.

Personal verdict: Not bad but a tad too sweet for my liking.

We enjoyed ourselves over so much yummy meat and jokes. It was fun taking turns to grill the food and ordering our favourites (beef bulgogi, lamb bulgogi & chicken teriyaki) over and over again until none of us could eat anymore.

An hour passed without us realising and we finally stopped ordering and grilling the meat. We then ordered the desserts from the menu.

Nothing beats a serving of Pat-bing-su (팥빙수), Korean shaved ice dessert after a hearty bbq meal.

Having that just made me miss Korea even more! :(

Other desserts provided: Vanilla ice cream, chocolate ice cream and fresh fruits.

Tip: Add the vanilla ice cream to the patbingsu! Trust me, it's even nicer. Eating a Korean dessert the Korean way is always the best!

Mmmm... smooth, soft and cold. Nice~

So, if you love Korean food, don't want to spend too much but want to eat a lot, this is the place for you.

Contact number is 222 2233. Their Ramadhan Buffet is Bnd 23.90 per adult and Bnd 13.90 for children under 12 years old. They open from 11.00 am ~ 2.30pm for the lunch session and 6.00 pm ~ 10.30 pm for the dinner session.

Hey guys! It is the time of the year again! The time when the Muslims fast. As for me, it's Sungkai Buffet time! I've been to a few in the past few years since uni days and I love almost all of them! My favourites being Cheezbox Cafe & Restaurant, Kimchi Restaurant and I-Lotus!

So this year, I started my Sungkai Buffet journey at Cheezbox Cafe & Restaurant. Here are some photos from my visit yesterday with some friends.

 All sorts of puddings in one shot glasses.

In the past, they had their puddings the traditional way. A big bowl of pudding which you have to scoop using the spoon. It's okay but if you're one of the last few to take the pudding, you'll be so put off by its looks.

Jasmine green tea, yam, oolong tea, mango, vanilla and matcha.

That's caramel in the spoon.

Personal favourite : matcha!

 All hail, the glorious BREAD PUDDING!

One of the best I've had and one of the reasons why I keep on going back there every year!

 It's not Cheezbox if they don't serve cheesecakes.

Matcha cheesecake, mango cheesecake and tiramisu cheesecake.

But, according to my friends, the mango cheesecake's the best! "Full of chunks of fresh and yummy mangoes!" Too bad there wasn't any left when I went back to the dessert section after my main course.

Octopus(like those you can get from Japanese restaurants), fruit salad, shrimp spring roll, veggie & mushroom, mussel, lamb, prawn and crispy beef in the middle.

Personal favourite: ALL OF THEM except for the prawn.

OMGGGG! That's the BEST ever! My main reason for going back to their Sungkai Buffet every year without fail!

Yes, I LOVE it so much that I'd make the journey to BSB just to have that.

 Fish with blue cheese sauce, spaghetti and rice.

The fish with blue cheese sauce is my new favourite! Nothing can go wrong with cheese! Seriously!

 Friends' sushis and tempuras from the Japanese food section.

Did not taste any as well so you have to try out to know the taste.

There is always room for ice cream no matter how full one is! Furthermore, it's homemade! 

Mango, apple pie, dragon fruit and matcha flavoured ice cream!

Personal favourite: ALL except for the dragon fruit one. That tasted weird. The mango ice cream's really good as it's filled with chunks of fresh mangoes!! Apple pie ice cream's also filled with chunks of apples and you can even taste the cinnamon taste! The matcha ice cream's very rich so it might be bitter for non-matcha lovers.

Oh yeah, if you are wondering about drinks, they have iced bandung, iced lime juice, grape slush, hot coffee, hot tea and cold water.

Overall, it was a very satisfying buffet meal for the 5 of us. Cheezbox Cafe & Restaurant, thank you for maintaining the quality of your food and service.

Anyway, call 242 5506/7 for reservation and the price for the buffet is Bnd 24.90 per adult and Bnd 14.90 per child.

I think each of us made at least 10 trips to the buffet tables both on the lower and upper level.

Melbourne (March 2012) - Day 3, Part 2

We finally arrived at Sunny Ridge Strawberry Farm a little past 1pm after an exciting drive from the beach huts earlier. This is one of the places that I really wanted to go prior to my trip and also a place that I will definitely go back again and again when I return to Melbourne in the future! I'll let the strawberry photos do the talking~

Ready for strawberries filled photos?

Beyond the doors, there's a dessert cafe and a mini shop selling products made from strawberries. It was quite packed and a lil difficult to look at the products and there were no empty table available at the dessert cafe so we opted for STRAWBERRY PICKING! Luckily March's still the strawberry picking season! This was my FIRST time picking strawberries! Excited much! XD

We each paid AUD 8 for the entrance fee and we're given an empty punnet each!

 The rows of strawberries here were not opened for picking so we had to head further down to those at the back.

 But that didn't stop me from snapping some photos.

 We're only allowed to pick strawberries between the red flags.

While we were picking strawberries, Karen and I decided to take each other's photos and the guy in grey in the photo above kept on photo bombing us somehow. Many times he bent too low sticking his butt high up making us giggled like mad hatters. We couldn't take any decent photo! Sigh... we had to move a bit further down to take a nice photo with no butts :P

Anyway, thanks for cheering us up on that cloudy and gloomy day.

 We filled our punnets in less than 30 minutes!

Miss them big and juicy strawberries!

With our strawberries in hands, we headed back indoors. There were still no empty table at the dessert cafe! So we walked around and had a look at the products that they were selling.

OMGGGG these are my favourite! Totally like those coated with milk chocolate~

Ahhh......

I only bought a packet of dark chocolate coated and a milk chocolate coated. But I regretted so much when I tasted it after I left Melbourne. WHY DID I ONLY BUY 1 PACKET? T___T

Thank goodness the lovely Karen bought 2 more packets for me when she brought her mom there a few weeks after our visit! *fly kiss*

OMGGGGG!

That's the best dessert ever! Now I can't decide if this is my most favourite dessert or this matcha pattbingsu from Coin Cafe. I couldn't decide if the Strawberry ice cream or the sorbet was nicer too! LOL the fresh strawberries and whipped cream just made the whole thing taste nicer!

Argghhh... worst thing is, they are both unreachable at the moment cause I don't live in Seoul or Melbourne!
