2 of my most favourite Korean restaurant and Brunei Food Festival 2012
Hey June, gonna bid you goodbye in less than 2 hours! And also bye to flu!

I can't wait for July to arrive cos that means I am so close to my vacation in August!
Here are some photos that I've missed out through out the first half of 2012. Yeap, foodie pictures again! They are places that I will return to MANY times cos their food is just SO good! And yeap, my top 2 Korean restaurants in Brunei!
First, Koryo in Kiulap. It's the first Korean restaurant in Brunei and to me, it still serves the best kimchi chigae ever!

I personally prefer this! Omgggg wrapped inside some veggie with some warm rice and bean paste! HEAVEN! XD
Their jap chae (korean glass noodles) is really good too! I always forgot to take a photo of that! Hmmm....
There! 2 of my most favourite Korean restaurants in Brunei! They score a big place in my heart due to their excellent service and the consistency of their food quality! I do hope they will continue to be awesome!
Gaaahhh... I feel like driving 100km away to get them now!

Then and now
Hey guys~
How are you all doing? I hope everyone's fine!
I'm currently under the weather or rather I have been, since Monday. Was trying to let my body recover by itself by resting a lot cos I couldn't bear to miss work since it's a very busy week. But, my body finally gave in today. So I went to see the doctor and I was given medicine and a day off for tomorrow.
You know, most of the time, when we are sick, we just want to hang on to stuff that's in the past? I was reading through my old blog posts from my older blog(now deleted but I still can view :P) and I really miss the times that I had before we all grow up and move into the working world. All the crazy things we did back in high school, adventurous stuff from uni days and everything in between. All those precious photos that're not on facebook cos yeah, I started blogging in 2004 and only started using facebook in 2009! Kids, teenagers back then survived on blogs! And I am so glad that I was part of them. :) I had a couple of blogs from blogdrive, xanga and blogger but in the end, I still prefer to use blogger.
As the years go on, the way I blog has changed and so does the stuff that I share. Since most of my friends are in the working world too, it's only natural for me not to retain their silly pasts in the internet world. How would you react if your boss found a photo of you making silly monkey face? I don't want to bear the consequences! Screening through each and every post to edit is not something that I'd do too as it's very time consuming. So, the easiest way was to just delete/shut down my previous precious blog that was with me for 4 years! 360 posts! T.T
I intended to just post up photos, links and videos when I started this blog few years back but the blogging bug came back to me. I was back to blogging normally without myself realising. I guess, once a hobby, always a hobby.
I'll try to continue my Melbourne post as soon as I can!
As for now, it's time for medication and more rest.
*sneezes*

Melbourne ♥ (March 2012) - Day 1
Hey guys~ How are you? I hope everyone's doing fine!
Like usual, I am trying to overcome all the challenges in life. Sometimes fun, sometimes tired and sometimes, just boring. LOL
Anyways, here is a very short post to kick start my Melbourne Trip 3 months ago!
Melbourne (March 2012) - Day 1
This's my first visit to Melbourne and I was so excited after I bought my tickets! I had a really short time to do my homework(researching) due to buying the tickets really last minute but rest assured, my trip turned out well.
Boarded my flight at 12:20 local time via Royal Brunei Airlines. The flight wasn't full so I had 3 seats to myself! Woooohooooo! Switched between watching Me Too, Flower! on tab and sleeping. There're quite a number of interesting shows on the plane but I guess I'm more of a Korean Drama freak? :P
Touched down on Melbourne Airport at 10:15 pm local time. That's only 7:15 pm back in Brunei! Due to Daylight Savings Time, Melbourne's 3 hours ahead of Brunei in March.
Karen, one of my close friends who's living in Melbourne picked me up from the airport!

I am so grateful for a friend like Karen. Not only she drove for more than an hour to pick me, she also let me stay at her place through out the whole week, brought me to so many places, introduced super duper yummy Australian food and lots more!

The first thing that struck me was the price for the parking at the airport. It's 20 AUD for an hour!
O.O
Ok, never mind, that aside, Karen and her friend, V, brought us to this place somewhere in CBD to have dinner. Right, really late dinner for them cos it's almost midnight local time but not for me who was still having Brunei's time on my watch. As most of the places had closed, we only had pasta. Sorry, I didn't take any photos cos I was busy trying to absorb the new surrounding! LOL Did not even notice the name of the restaurant! Just remembered I had some ravioli~
After having our late dinner/supper, we sent V home. Gotta thank V too for showing the way to the airport in the dark! We then set off for home. Along the way, we stopped by Monga Dessert Lounge (糖楼) at Box Hill.
As it was past 1 am so finding a parking's not a problem. We parked right in front of the front door. Okay, the stairs that lead to the 1st floor to be exact. Upon entering, I only had 2 words in my mind. Old-school. The decor was really old school! Just like those coffee shops you see in Hong Kong dramas from the 70's & 80's! Read this post by another blogger to have a look at the interior inside Monga.
Since we were still quite full from the pasta, we decided to just share some snacks.

Hmm... it's not bad but it's a little too sweet for my liking.
I'd love to drop by again to taste other dessert in the future~ Especially those sago desserts!!
PS: They close at 3am! A good place for night owls!
Headed back to Karen's place to rest after supper and that is the end of Day 1! Or rather, night 1! LOL

A week's worth of food
Hey guys!
How was your longer weekend? I am really thankful that yesterday was a public holiday! Managed to squeeze in all the preparation for work! Everyone's is still in their holiday mood at work today. Haha it happens all the time. I myself had a really hard time falling asleep last night and waking up this morning. Thank goodness I wasn't late for work! Phewf~
This entry will be about all the food that I had over the week long holiday with family, cousins and friends. Yes, including the Korean food that I mentioned in the previous post!
Before I proceed, please be reminded that all the reviews are MY OPINIONS and that does not mean the food is bad or anything. It's all up to individual preferences and taste.

A week's worth of food
1. Dinner at Charcoal BBQ & Grill (KB Branch) with cousins and friend.

It gets spicier the more you eat but you can't stop cos it's too good! HAHA

Reviews: Our second time there and the beef ribs are still soooo good! I guess I'll just stick to the ribs since the reviews on steak and chicken by people that I know aren't that good. Next trip gotta be lunch! I want to have their set lunch! I hope they've improved on their beef by now!

2. Had lunch with a friend that I've not met for months at Kimchi Restaurant, Regent Square, Kiulap.
Dduk bukk ki and side dishes.
YUMS!
Really love the dduk bukk ki but the serving's too small.

Friend had dolsot bibimbap (sorry for forgetting to take a picture), mixed rice in a stone bowl and she loved it! In fact, she has that every single time she's there! LOL
It was great being able to meet up again in the midst of our busy working lives. Really miss being a student!
Reviews: I think it's only my 3rd time there and the waiters are so polite and nice. The food that we had was good but still, my heart goes to Ko-ryo, another korean restaurant that has a very homey feel. I'd definitely be back to Kimchi again to have their grilled beef bulgogi ! Had that some time last year and it's really really good!
3. Had afternoon tea with a close friend at Cheezbox Cafe & Restaurant, The Mall, Gadong.
Mulberry pop.
Italian style chicken pie.
Waffles topped with ice cream and chocolate.

Reviews: I've been to Cheezbox for a gazillion times and I have never felt so disappointed before. Maybe it's just our luck that day cos most of the food that we wanted to eat were not available!

No scones... no passion fruit pop... no custard for the waffles....
The mulberry pop is a drink that I'll never ever have in my life again. I seriously do not know how to drink that. As for the pie and waffles, they are just okay. Luckily good companion made up the slightly disappointed food. I hope I can have some warm scones next time!
4. Had froyo with a close friend and nephew at Mochi Frozen Yogurt, Airport Mall.

I am not a fish person so I gave my share to my friend and she said it's a bit tasteless?

Reviews: It was my first time there but not for my friend. I was told that their beef bulgogi is really good so I was expecting really awesome beef bulgogi. Sadly, the whole meal turned out to be a bad experience for me. The place is really beautiful but the waitresses weren't that nice considering that Silla is a premium Korean dining place? The beef bulgogi had too much pepper in it and that covered the taste of the beef. The beef was cut too thin and small so when it was cooked, it looked like minced beef. For a price of $30.00, it's definitely not worth it. As for the kimchi chigae, it tasted so good when I tried it but halfway through it, I got really thirsty. I had 2 full glasses of iced water to stop the thirstiness! Back in the car, I gulped down half of the water from my tumbler! And then I drank 2 more glasses of water at a bakery later on! That means, there's too much MSG and sugar in it. I didn't actually taste the spiciness but a lot of saltiness. As for the rice, it was too soft but not soggy. Overall, I'd not go back any time soon not unless I hear good reviews. This has got to be the worst Korean meal I've had in my life. Sorry! I hope it's just us who had a bad experience there. 6. Continued to have afternoon tea with the same close friend at Fleur - de - lys, Kiarong Branch.

Reviews: Fleur de lys NEVER disappoints me with their cakes. Especially the chocolate fudge and carrot cake! They're really moist and packed with flavours! Mmmm mmmm! My coffee was really fragrant and smooth. The lemon macaron's yummy like usual and the cream of mushroom is not bad. Accompanied by a great friend, what more can a girl ask for during tea time? If only all of us have more free time to have a tea break like this once a week, I think our stress level would be much lower.
I am thinking about their sandwiches and cakes right now!! Can they open a branch in KB too?

Alright, that sort of sums up the food that I had through out the whole week. I was glad that I did not travel to anywhere except for the day trip to Miri. Managed to spend some quality time with most of my friends. Gotta get back to working mode again. Until the next update, take care!

Have not tried the korean food at the food court in Yayasan yet! Heard mixed reviews about that place! Any ideas guys?

Foodie Trip to Kuala Lumpur, December 2011 - Part 4 (Final)

Luckily, it's a public day for us tomorrow~
We get a day off in conjunction with the yearly Israk Mikraj. It's back to work on Tuesday.

Anyway, without further dilly dally, here is the last part of my KL trip last December.
Kuala Lumpur (KL) - Day 5 (Last entry)
Since it was our last day in KL, we just relaxed and did some window shopping(already bought so many things for the past few days) and sniffing for good food. LOL

Wasn't feeling well so I had hot chocolate for breakfast.

Wasn't well enough to really shop so I suggested we try a place for lunch that I'd read from some Malaysian blogs. Cue, it's at Tokyo Street on the 6th floor of Pavilion, KL!

Small ramen (in spicy miso soup) and char siu rice bowl set.
Came with a bowl of salad and chawan mushi.

I have to say, this is the BEST chawan mushi EVER!
It's soooo soft that it just slides down your throat the moment you put it in your mouth!

Although it's RM 35 for a set of meal there, it's really quality food. I did not regret having my lunch there and so didn't my cousin and her friends. We were so satisfied that our smiles did not leave our faces for a long time! :P
I have yet to try 'real' ramen in Japan so this has got to be the best ramen for me so far. I'll definitely be back!
We then proceeded to walk around Tokyo Street. There're some Japanese shops selling Japanese snacks, food, toys, stationery etc There's also a Daiso! Great! We saw this small 'booth' just right in front of Daiso's door. Sorry no picture~
They didn't have much stuff on display but the strawberry mochi alone was calling out to me.

Cousin bought the Strawberry Hokkaido Cake at the bottom and her family said it's really yummy too! I was told they're soft, fluffy and not too sweet! Right, now I regret for not getting that too! haha the owner was telling us how good it was and I still remember him having centre parting hair which reminded me of HK artists from early 90's. Ok, Aaron Kwok to be specific hehe
He even gave us cotton candy for free!

Anyway, we continued to loiter around Pavilion that afternoon cos it was raining really heavily! We couldn't even go to Times Square until late afternoon.
Coffee break at J.Co while waiting for the heavy downpour to stop.
Rain still did not stop after almost an hour so we ran all the way from Pavilion to Sungei Wang Plaza to take the monorail to Times Square. What an interesting afternoon! :P
We continued to shop/walk around at Times Square and randomly selected a place for dinner.

PERSONALLY, I'd not go back there to eat again. Yes, the decoration is really pretty and the price is average but the food is just okay for us. Maybe we're just spoilt by other food. Sorry~
And that ends the foodie adventure in KL last December as we caught the earliest flight back the following morning!
