South Korea ♥ Part 3
Hi~
:)
I thought life would slow down a little so I could catch my breath(and update this blog!) but it seems like it's not slowing down at all. Anyhow, a little update on life before I proceed to my 3rd post on South Korea. (Please scroll down if you are not interested HAHA)
Many people around me are falling sick or having health problems. Just yesterday, I received the news that the wife of my first cousin had passed away. My condolences to her family and friends. I have been to the clinic/hospital for uncountable number of times in the past 2 months to bring our maid for checkups and she has been sick on and off since March! We have no idea what her problem is. Even the doctors can't really diagnose her as well. Well, she is going back home tonight(she told us she needs to see some 'doctor' from back home to heal her) so that means, if I don't update this blog now, I'll never know when I can update again given that my sister and I have to split the house chores between the two of us. Ok, so to sum things up, do take care of your health yeah? Keep calm and ................ (for me, it's breathe slowly and do something that I like).
Day 4 (22nd August 2011) - Jeju & Seoul
We took a domestic flight via
Asiana Airlines from Jeju to Seoul. We had our brunch at the Jeju Airport while waiting for our flight.
Lotteria it is!
:)
A cup of coffee to kick start another adventurous day!
Fried breaded cheese! Really gooood!
Fries with cheese powder/shake/flakes? I don't know what it's called cos here, we dipped them in tomato sauce or chilli sauce~ it's not bad!
Best burger I had for this trip!
Bulgogi burger!! ♥♥♥
Kyaaaa~~ look at that!!
After that yummy brunch, we boarded our flight to Seoul.
Upon reaching Seoul, we took a taxi to our hotel,
Hotel PJ, to check in and drop our luggage. Our taxi driver dropped us at the back door instead of the main entrance cos he had never sent any passenger to Hotel PJ before. But, sometimes things happen for a reason you know. If he did not take that route, I wouldn't have discovered this little place where these
ahjummas serve really delicious bbq pork! The moment I opened the door of our taxi, my nose detected the sweet aroma instantly and I knew I had to have those bbq pork!
The lobby/main entrance.
I don't remember which floor we stayed on but the floor below us is called ladies' floor. Really cool huh?
Our room! Sorry for the blurry pic! It's quite spacious for 2 persons.
Rested for a while and then headed down to that bbq pork place right away! We were starving! It was already 3/4-ish in the afternoon!
The simple menu in korean which none of us knew how to read. Luckily one of the ahjummas there knew very little mandarin so we could still order bbq pork, kimchi chigae and some other random stuff. We just nodded our heads whenever they suggested something. HAHA told you it was a very adventurous trip, no?
THE MOST AWESOME FOOD I'VE TASTED IN THIS TRIP!!! BBQ PORK!
Take a piece of lettuce, slap some rice, put any number of slices bbq pork you want and then bean paste. Wrap them up and stuff them into your mouth! HEAVEN!!
*reminisce*
That seaweed soup was also quite good! ahhh~
Kimchi soup! NYUMS!
After having such an awesome meal, we decided to go to Dongdaemun market since most places would be closed. The cute guy(no kidding! they are all so cute and they can speak Korean, Japanese and English!!I think Mandarin too?) at our hotel reception told us we could walk for 15 minutes to reach Dongdaemun. And so we did but after walking for 20 minutes, we still could not see any sign of dongdaemun!
*inserts tired and horrified face*
Lesson learned, never ever trust a Korean when they tell you the time taken to walk from one place to another. Not unless you walk fast like them or from other cities. If you are from a laid back country like ours, just take the taxi!! :P
We walked around the places near our hotel, which is filled with shops that do name cards, invitation cards printing and photo frames? Ohkay fine, I admit we were lost HAHA so we hailed a taxi to go to Dongdaemun market.
It's still too early when we reached Dongdaemun(shops in malls and stalls in markets only open after 6pm!) so we walked around a bit.
Though it's still early, there were quite a lot of people already!
Got myself this strawberry milk from some random roadside street stall. I'd say the banana version is way nicer.
Dongdaemun is a really nice place for fashionistas or people who love to shop for fashion stuff. Imagine having quite a number of malls similar to the Platinum Mall in Bangkok! Sadly, none of us is interested. I know I know, such a waste right? It's ok, we had fun walking around and absorbing the sights(the people, the buildings, the clothes etc) around us. Super Junior's
Mr Simple (click
here for the music video)was the hottest song during our trip. It's being played on FULL BLAST in almost every single shop/store! Amazing!
Doota!
One of the many fashion malls in Dongdaemun.
The night and time for shopping had just started!
We were quite tired from all the traveling so we randomly chose a place from an alley, sat down and had some warm and hot ddukbukki.
And topped it off with a bowl of pattbingsu!
:)
We went back to the hotel to rest (and use the free wi-fi in our room hehe) at quite an early hour, 10pm! Haha no point in wasting our energy further looking at clothes and things that we won't buy! All's good cos the next day's even more interesting with lots of shopping hauls!
Day 5 and 6 will be continued in the next post since it's mostly about FOOOOOOOD!
Until the next update, hope you had fun reading this post.
Some thought:
Everyone deserves a rewarding trip after months or weeks of hard work, so do take some time from your busy life to explore new places (or revisit old places) and increase our information on our world.
Annyeong~
PS: We're the only odd tourists staying at our hotel again! The whole hotel is filled with..... JAPANESE GIRLS! Yes guys, if you wanna stalk kawaii girls, that is a place for you to stay! =P But girls, you can stay there too cos the guys working there are super cute too ^^
PPS: I'd just bought my ticket to...... South Korea again!! *dances around the room*
PPPS : I forgot to put my blog's link on the photos again!! Photos are mine and some photos are my cousin's. Please do not take out without credits. Thanks~
