South Korea ♥ Part 2
Hello~
Sorry for the long absence from this blog. 2012 kicks off with a lot of work and I did not realise that it's already April!
I recently just got back from my holiday, from ....... beautiful Melbourne! Haha now I have even more stuff that I have not blogged about!
I'm going to continue my post on South Korea which is soooo overdue! Click
here for Part 1 if you have not read.
I will try to include as much information as I can remember! (Most of the prices and time will be estimation.)
Day 3 (21st August 2011) - Jeju Island
We woke up to a grey day. It was drizzling a bit. And so, we went down to the restaurant on the ground floor,
Summora, for some hotel breakfast. Since we didn't include any breakfast when we booked our hotel room, we paid for about BND 20+ each. Here are some photos that we took while dining there.
The view from our seat inside. The sea can be seen from here~
If only it wasn't raining~
A mixture of Korean and Western food for breakfast!
They are ALL yummy! Especially the pancake with cream and really awesome blueberry jam!
The stir fried pork at the bottom is AWESOME!!
Muesli and fresh yoghurt for the world! Ahh... miss these as well!
That's how the reception looks like. Remember me saying that I think we're the only foreigners there? haha
After having our breakfast, our tour guide from
JejuEco, Victor, came to pick us in a mini van. We signed up for a day's tour since our stay in Jeju was quite short. Each of us paid about 80, 000 won including a traditional lunch, entrance tickets and of course, transportation and information. That's about Bnd 90.
The good thing I like about Victor is, he speaks English and Korean fluently!
There's a couple from Russia touring with us that day. Though weather's gloomy, we were really excited to visit interesting places in Jeju!
First stop, Seongsan Sunrise Peak!
Fans of WGM, it's the place that Adam Couple went to! hehe
The entrance!
It's raining but it's not that bad. With a raincoat, we marched up the thousand steps! LOL
There were so many people!
Locals and tourists alike!
Another picture of the morning crowd.
View from halfway to the top.
*Gloomy*
Lots of people taking photos of that stone on the left.
Closer look.
So it's called the Seongsan Ilchulbong Tuff Cone! I don't know why this picture is not upright though I've rotated it! =(
Yay! the sky cleared a bit for better photos!
This was taken halfway to the top too!
We're finally at the top of the volcano!
Yeap, a dead volcano of course =P
There were really many people! The stone steps (nearing the top) up and down the volcano were so narrow and small. Most of the time, people going up had to pause and let people going down to pass. We held to the little handles available for our dear lives! Steps were slippery too due to the rain but there were so many ladies climbing the mountain in HEELS and SLIPPERS!
*slaps forehead*
Fog cleared a bit!
=)
Glad that we made the tiresome climb to the top for the beautiful view~
And now, going back down.
Beautiful views~
Fog's gone almost entirely so we could see the houses and sea clearly now.
There were still so many people coming in cars, vans and buses!
The sea on my right~
Lady photo-bombed my photo! T.T
The coast?
Was curious with the boats there!
There! Better view! I could see women diving!
Wikipedia told me they are called
haenyo.
I was not kidding when I told you there were so many people.
Please be really careful!
Upon reaching the foot of the mountain, you see this wall? You can check when the sun rises through out the year! Just check the date and the time carved there!
Closer shot~
Yeap, Seongsan Sunrise Peak is a UNESCO site. This is my 2nd UNESCO site after Ayutthaya in Thailand in 2010.
I bought a box of this Korean sweets after we had some ice cream. I also bought some harubang chocolate. Click
here for a photo of how they look like.
Ah... sugar coated!
Fluffy sugar coating the crushed peanuts.
I ate something similar before but I don't remember where!
To me, it's just normal. Hehe
We got back into the mini van and went to the next destination.
2nd stop, Mi Cheon Cave!
Before finding the entrance to MC Cave, here are some photos of the beautiful garden, harubangs and cactus from the Cactus Garden!
A pond and mini waterfall?
With floating flowers~
Harubangs that are believed to safeguard the place and fertility?
Oh well, more info
here. haha
Cactus
Round cactus
And more cactus LOL!
Mi Cheon Cave!
This way please~
The entrance!
Mi Cheon Cave is an underground lava cave so temperature is quite low in there. We could feel the cool air from here.
Upon entering the entrance, temperature's really low! It was probably 12 degrees? That ang moh there's our tour guide!
Some parts of the underground tunnel are quite low but beautiful nevertheless.
Water for good luck!
There you go! If you know how to read Chinese hehe
Basically, get some of the water your nose, face etc for good luck.
A beautiful dragon on the wall.
The walls are not red actually. Just brown, grey or yellow.. they look red due to the light reflected from the lamps.
It was quite dark and cold in the cave so it was quite scary haha but it's a nice experience :)
After getting out from the cave, we continued to explore the traditional korean folklore village nearby.
Ahjussi playing some traditional korean game.
Horse doing work. That's fake of course~
Close up shot of the walls.
Black pigs!!
That's our ride for the day!
Next destination, a Korean restaurant in the city serving traditional Jeju food! A bit regret for not taking a photo of the name of the restaurant! T.T
Jeng jeng jeng jeng! Ban chan and steamed egg!
Fried fish. They gave one to each and everyone of us. I gave mine to my Thai friend and he was over the moon. Haha... sorry for not being a fish person~
Chigae!
Steamed or maybe boiled black pork! OMG SOOOOOO YUMMY!!! T^T
After having our lunch, we head on to TEDDY BEAR MUSEUM!! XD
It wasn't in the itinerary that Victor prepared but he brought us there! We just had to pay for our own entrance tickets! 5000 won only! Bnd 5.60? Cheap! =D
Weeeee~
Titanic bears!
Snow white and the 7 dwarves bears!
Mona lisa bear~
I personally like this! Traditional Korean wedding! So cute! I had to sit on the floor to take a photo of this cos it's really small and low!
Guests eating during the traditional Korean wedding! So small and cute!
LV bear! Worth more than 200 000 000 won!
O.O
Really cute husky bears!! :3
Walt Disney bears!! ♥ !!
Haha Marilyn Monroe bear!! LMAO
Terra cotta bears with archaeologist bears! Interesting~
This bear is so small and cute but the doggie is even smaller and cuter!
Goong bears!
Shin bear and Chae Kyung bear~
All 4 of them! :)
We then head outdoor for more bears! LOL
Biggest bear in the whole of museum! Just compare with the tall palm tree behind it!
Bears grilling meat! Can give me some? :P
Chimp spotted! haha
*pokes his butt*
=P
The Teddy Bear Museum also has a small place for visitors to get some bear stuff and a fast food chain too.
Bought some souvenirs here but most of the stuff here are so over priced!
Note: If only the bears were not inside glasses, it'd make photo taking easier! But then, people are sure gonna touch them lol anyway.....
Next destination, Chocolate Museum! It's not in the itinerary but Victor still brought us there.
Chocolate Museum!
Eggs sculptured from chocolate.
Sea shells chocolate~
Me! :P
This is the guy at the counter. We thought he's cute so we asked our guy friend to go up to him for a photo and he really let him took one!!
^^
Anyway, from our experience, just skip this chocolate museum!! There is really nothing to see there! Trust me.
After that, we asked Victor to drop us at a place where we can do some grocery shopping and he dropped us at E-mart. Ok, I know you have the E-mart from Miri in your mind, right? HAHA of course it's not like that!!!
It's something like Hua Ho or Giant. Click
here for more info.
Bye bye Victor~ Thank you for the tour!
annyeong~
RAMYUN!!!!!
*shiny eyes*
Our trolley filled with food! HAHA
I bought so many cute notebooks and also Korean CDs! Yes, from a dept store!! LOL
I think we shopped for about an hour in there and still being a lil clueless with Jeju, we hailed a taxi outside for a ride back to our hotel.
We had BBQ black pig at the hotel (Summora, same place we had our breakfast) for dinner!
Coke and Sprite Korean version.
Look at those black pig, potatoes and mushrooms! All sizzling on VOLCANIC ROCK!!!
OMGGGGG!!! Totally YUMMY!
T____T
I think it was about bnd 20+ per person cos it's eat all you can. We refilled that ONCE hahaaa
After that filling dinner, we went to explore the hotel. There were arcade rooms, mini marts and gyms in the basement!
O.O
And we only realised on the last night! Great!
Halfway through exploring, we got split up. Haha I know it's not even a jungle, but the basement is really huge!
Without realising, my guy friend and I came to this underground walkway filled with pictures on both sides of the wall!
The walkway! One side is filled with autographs by famous Korean artists that have stayed or filmed there! While the other sides are autographs of VIPs such as presidents etc!
COOL!
Song Seung Hun? tsk tsk...
Lee Min Ho!!! I remember that from Personal Taste! XD
OMG cannot believe that we stayed at such a famous hotel lol
That tunnel lead us to the basement of the 'hotel part' of Haevichi without us realising. Haha
Finally fatigue set in, so we walked back to the 'resort part' of Haevichi to go back to our rooms. Mind you, it's a long walk back. When we reached our room, my cousin and her friend thought we were lost! LOL
We spent the remaining night packing and catching on some sleep before checking out the following morning to catch a flight back to Seoul.
Summary: I LOVE JEJU! Such a BEAUTIFUL island filled with really friendly people and yummy food! I'd definitely go back there again some day! There're still so many places that I didn't get to go since our stay was quite short. If my wallet allows, I'd definitely stay at Haevichi again! The yummy breakfast and bbq pork are to die for!! hahaa
Wow, what a long post! I blogged for 5 hours straight!
O.O
Time to sleep! Have a great weekend all!
^^
PS: I've just realised.....I forgot to put my blog's link on all the photos!!
T___T
Please credit back to this site if one is going to use the photos aights?
